THIS IS ONLY HALFTIME: Racial Superbowl (part one)

For all of those who think that this is a “post racial era” because we have elected our first African American president…I’m here to shut that down.

As much as I’d like to let you go about your life rejoicing in that major milestone being passed, I can’t let you think that the race is finally over.

THIS IS ONLY HALFTIME:

It’s evident by the cheers & jeers from the crowd that there are just as many fans for the away team as the home team has; they didn’t have much to cheer for in the beginning. We have a gone from an All-Madden team vs your local high school J.V. squad all the way to a real sporting event!

Don’t get me wrong, the refs seem to be giving a LOT of calls to the home team still…but the away team is still in the fight. It’s surprising considering how many of their players seem to have given up. Both the offensive & defensive lines are constantly caving in, the veterans aren’t showing the leadership they once did and these rookies…don’t even get me started! Even the coaching staff and ownership leave something to be desired.

Meanwhile on the other end of the field…

TO BE CONTINUED…

As stated I agree the issues we face are more classism than racism it just so happens the people of color are the ones predominantly consistent with being poor. Knowing that racism is not even one hundred years old according to Meriam-Webster its first known use was in 1933 during a time in history when everyone was being reduced to poverty. Racism in my opinion is something people of color have used to perpetuate & justify the the separation of this country we call America. Which is the Name that all 50 States unite for but that’s another topic of discussion and when you’re ready so am I.

while I will agree with you on some parts, I do need to say that racism as we know it is dying out. within a generation or two it will be practically stamped out. what is going on now is more classism. It is easily mistaken for racism because most poor folk are black folk.
